Runderwear is a multi-award winning brand that makes performance underwear for sports people. The company is dedicated to making underwear that is seamless, moisture wicking and chafe-free.
There is nothing worse than underwear that chafes – and this is especially important for people who run long distances. Sweat, skin and fabric have a horrible tendency to cause sores. So, I was very happy to test the low-rise hipster pants and crop top sports bra.
Features
- 360-degree seamless technology
- Moisture wicking polyamide blended with elastane (look for Merino mix in some products)
- Chafe free
- Range of pants for men and women
- Runderwear women’s low-rise hipsters: £16
- Runderwear low-impact crop top sports bra: £25
Pros: What’s good about Runderwear pants and bra
Let’s consider the pants first. I chose low-rise pants because I do not like the waist of anything I wear to be too high. They offer a big pant that does not rise up too high on the waist but is very comfortable and perfectly supporting. This is pretty much exactly what I want in a pair of pants for running.
There are several more versions: G-string version, anti-VPL (visible panty line) and briefs if you prefer a different style.
There is also a new merino version of the briefs made with 45% Australian merino.
The pants have no seams or thin edges to dig into the skin because they are made on a 360-degree seamless machine and constructed in a circular motion.
I have run many miles in my Runderwear pants and felt no chafing issues at all.
The fabric is also breathable and moisture wicking. The pants never make me feel sweaty. In fact, I can hardly tell I am wearing them, which is brilliant.
The pants are not highly elasticated but still give enough support. I have washed one pair at least 10 times already and they come out of the machine in good shape.
If you like colourful pants, Runderwear sell bright pink and vibrant cyan as well as black.
The Runderwear low-impact sports bra is a crop-top style bra. It is said to be low-impact but I found to to offer adequate support for running. I am not large chested though, and if you need more support you should consider the brand’s new “support running” bra.
The crop-top style bra fits snugly. The seamless construction is the same as the pants and this means there are no edges or seams to dig into skin.
There is more to this bra than the basic requirements. It is longer and has wider straps than many other bras of a similar cost. Everything about it says quality and lots of thought.
I like that the bra and pants match, too, even if I was wearing different colours.
Cons: What’s not so good about Runderwear pants and bra
It’s very rare that I have no criticisms of a product but I am struggling to think of any negatives with the Runderwear pants and bra.
The products do exactly as they say they will. I think there has been a little bit of fading in the colour of the pants after 10 washes but not as much as I might have expected.
The crop-top bra does feel a little too long because it reaches down over the rib cage. But this is not a major issue, it’s just different.
It would be great to have more colours to choose from.
And perhaps £16 is quite a lot for one pair of pants but since I like them so much I feel they are worth the money. They do seem to be of good quality, too, so I am expecting each pair to last a long time.
Conclusion
The pants and bra are now my go-to underwear for running. If I can’t find them in my drawer, I go searching on the washing line. I bought two more pairs of pants and a running support bra to add to my collection. All this shows how much I rate the underwear. It’s really excellent.
