Dynafit’s logo perfectly captures their dedication to excellence. Focused. Intense. Intimidating. They have created some great running kit, and the Dynafit Ultra Pro shoe is a good addition to their solid line.
If you have never tried their shoe, it is worth considering especially if you are headed to questionable terrain where running is considered reckless endangerment.

Pros: What’s good about the Dynafit Ultra Pro
There were so many things that I loved about this shoe, but I think my overall impression was that Dynafit has created a strong shoe. No matter the weather or the terrain, the Ultra Pro gave me a sense of stability and security.
The first time I took them out on the mountain it was raining and they were great going up and coming down on slick trails.
The cushioning was just right for distances up to and slightly beyond 50 km. The construction of the shoe is impressive with durable components and thoughtful design.
It was my first exposure to a shoe with quick lacing and I liked it. It took me a few runs to figure out the best tightness given the already snug arch support, but I had no problem with lacing shift. I thought I would need to be adjusting them regularly, but they were solid the whole run through.
The heel cup is noticeably more secure than other shoes. Also, the Vibram sole was spot on for terrain of all levels. Rocks, roots, stream crossings, mud, gravel, I didn’t have to think twice.
Cons: What’s not so good about the Dynafit Ultra Pro
A strong shoe can be a two edged sword. The Dynafit’s solid construction was great for all terrain, but was not forgiving on the feet during the really long runs. One thing I loved at the beginning of the runs was the arch support covering the lacing structure.
It kept my feet snug and from slipping, but it also had the tendency to create friction spots if the runs were long enough to produce swelling in the feet.
Because the shoe has the ease of the zip style lacing, it also lacks the ability to utilize an ankle-lock lacing pattern which traditional lacing allows. This inconvenience is offset by the arch support strap above the lacing, but it can still produce some toe discomfort on steep downhills.
You also have to work a bit to get the laces tighter toward the front of the shoe.
The weight of the shoe, especially if a bit wet, can be prohibitive for those looking for light and fast.
Conclusion
The Dynafit Ultra Pro is a strong shoe. If you are going to be tackling rugged terrain, running in the mountains, or on slick terrain, I would recommend you consider this shoe.
This shoe will serve you well in races around the 50 km distance.
