It calls itself the only all women’s ultra marathon in the world and organisers have announced that it is back this year and will be run on March 11th in Cebu in the Philippines. It is a 50km race. There are 250 places available and registration opens on January 18.
After last year’s race, held on March 13, 2016, the organisers said they might not hold another one this year because of the pressure and difficulties they faced in putting it on.
“There was a clamour in the running community to continue staging this running event as well as the Cebuana lady runners and we also realised that this running event brings togetherness in the local running community,” one of the organisers, Tony Galon, told The Inquirer.
Online registration for the sixth edition of the All Women’s Ultra Marathon starts on Jan. 18. Last year, the 250 available slots were sold out just 26 minutes after registration opened.
All of the 250 participants managed to finish the race last year with Preciosa Sanchez finishing first in four hours, 59 minutes and 44 seconds. Sandra Soliano and Daisy Batac were her runners up.
