In the 2016 three-day edition, 831 runners from 50 countries set out from the Ultra Pirineu start line in the medieval town of Bagà (Barcelona). The ultra has a total ascent of 6,800m and was the final race in the 2016 Skyrunner ® World Series.
The event also includes a mountain marathon and a night-time vertical kilometer run. This year the rain and lower temperatures were a significant factor, especially for the vertical kilometer which had to be shortened.
