Penyagolosa Trails Sport HG in Spain has just announced its new 2016 dates for its two ultra trail categories: Marató i Mitja (MiM) and Ultra Castelló Penyagolosa (CSP).
Traditionally held in the month of May, dates for the Penyagolosa Trails have been moved back to the weekend of 23-24 April for 2016.
Online registration will open in January 2016. MiM accepts a maximum of 1500 runners and CSP accepts 600, and demand for 2016 is expected to be as high as 2015. Both events are part of the Spain Cup and are expected to award UTMB points for 2016*.
MiM is a 63km race and has a 15 hour cut-off with an accumulated ascent of 3,045m and descent of 1,833m.
CSP is a 118km race and gives a 30 hour cut-off. It has an accumulated ascent of 5,439m and descent of 4,227m.
Both are semi self-sufficient races held in the province of Castellón, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast and runners climb from sea level to an altitude of 1280m to the finish line at the Sanctuary of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa.
