Camille Herron ran 262km over 24 hours at the Desert Solstice Invitational 24hr race in Phoenix, Arizona over the weekend to take the women’s world record.
She has form, already holding the world records for 100 miles which she took at Tunnel Hill last year and 12 hours, so this completes the triumvirate.
She also won the race overall. It was organised by Aravaipa Running, and 33 athletes ran around (and round) a 400m track at Central High School in Phoenix. All were aiming to beat national and world records.
In addition, she took the 100-mile track record in 13:25:00 on her way to the 24. She knocked twenty minutes off Gina Slaby’s time.
