It has been announced that the 2018 Trail World Championships (TWC) will take place on Saturday May 12th 2018 in Castellón de la Plana in Spain.
To compete in the World Championships, you have to be selected by your national association member of the IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners), who co-organise the event with ITRA, Penyagolosa Trails and the Real Federación Española de Atletismo.
There are also two other races which are open to all runners: The MIM ”Marató y Mitja” (59.2 km and 3,430 D+ start at 7:00 am on May 12th) and the CSP ”Ultra Castelló Penyagolosa” (107.4 km and 5,670m D+, start 00:00 am on May 12th).
The ‘Long’ Trail World Championships 2018 covers the following:
– Distance = 85,3 km
– Positive elevation = 4,900 m
– Negative elevation = 3,690 m
– Endurance difficulty: 4 ITRA points
– Mountain level: 7
– Finisher criteria: 500 (corresponding to a cut-off time of 15h)
