Damian Hall and Jasmin Paris chat to RunUltra after their Barkley Marathons success.

Kate from RunUltra chats to Damian and Jasmin after their hugely successful runs at the Barkley Marathons this year. On his first attempt, Damian managed to start a 5th loop, only the 2nd person to do start the 5th loop but not finish it. Jasmin went further than any woman has before well into her 4th loop at the Barkley’s, despite not feeling in top form.

Jasmin:

“It definitely felt more familiar this time. And even now I sort of feel like I could concentrate more on racing it fast and well than making and finding my way around.”

Damian:

“If you add something that takes 10 minutes, that’s 50 minutes in total. That’s huge. Some people think he took 5 or 10 minutes off last year’s course. OK we had good weather too, but that possibly enabled three runners to finish the course”.

They also talk about their involvement with the Green Runners and their hopes and desires for the community. They want to encourage runners to consider making changes to their habits and lifestyle through travel, their gear, their eating habits and sharing the message.

“Runners who love the environment and Environmentalists who love to run”.
