NEW places available for Marathon Des Sables 2017!

Last updated: 15-Nov-18

By Alice Morrison

It is one of the most iconic races in the world and places for the Marathon des Sables (MDS) famously sell out as soon as they become available. The great news is that a new tranche of places has been made available exclusively to MDS UK so if you live in the UK or Ireland you can get your hands on them here.

The race is in April so there is still plenty of time to train and prepare. At RunUltra, we have lots of help and support to give as many of the team have run the race. We will be publishing our ultimate training guide for the MDS at the beginning of November and will also be talking you through kit choice, nutrition, the psychology of it all and sharing others’ experiences.

So, what is stopping you from signing up?

It’s too soon. I will never get the training done in time.

Wrong. You have plenty of time to train for it AND it will give you an incredible focus over the winter.  Our free training plan is coming next month but in the meantime have a look at these hints and tips from our team.

The Final Countdown

What kit worked and what didn’t

It’s too expensive. It isn’t worth it.

MDS is not cheap but it really is the experience of a lifetime and if you doubt that, then check out Steve Diederich’s report from last year’s course.

It’s just too bad ass for me. I could never do that.

No it isn’t. If I did it, then you definitely can too! If you put the time and the effort in, you can achieve it and be one of the super-few…

There are always reasons NOT to do things, but there are so many more reasons to DO this race. If you need any final inspiration, then I don’t think you can do better than this.

A real running hero

Good luck to all the 2017 runners!
